IN A BRIEF CONVERSATION WITH RENOWNED AUTHOR ALOK MISHRA





About the Author
Alok Mishra is a poet, editor, reviewer, blogger and teacher, residing currently in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh (UP), India. He is a legal member of Hafrikan Prince Art World, South Africa and World Nations Writers’ Union, KAZAKHSTAN. He is one of the World best featured poets, 2018 in Pentasi B World Friendship Poetry.

 He was born in Ghazipur, UP in 1981. He is the third child of his parents, Mrs. Shanti Mishra and Mr, Chandra Kant Mishra. He has one brother and two sisters. His wife, Garima Mishra is also a government teacher. From very childhood he has been a lover of Nature. He got his education in his home town Fatehpur, UP. He has a master degree in English Literature from Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University Kanpur, UP and a degree of M.Phil. in the topic “Wordsworth’s Pantheism in Relation to the Modern Ecological Context”. He is greatly inspired by the legendry Nobel Laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore.
He has had a keen interest in writing poems since a very young age. His book “Spiritual Realization”, a collection of his spiritual poems was published in 2017 by Authorspress, New Delhi, India. He edited three International anthologies i.e. “Ripples of Peace” and “Heartistry” published by Vishwabharati Research Centre, Latur, Maharashtra and “Medley of Melodies” published by Authorspress, New Delhi.

Some burning issues like rape, terrorism and discriminatory practices for females, downtrodden and common people take place symbolically in his poems. Mainly he writes in free verse. Sonnets and the Japanese genre of poetry in English language consisting haiku and tanka are also included in his works. He loves to write poems on spiritual humanism and romance. A note of mysticism is found in his several poems. His poems are centered on love and life.
He is founder and president of the poetic group Literature Lovers’ Association. He organizes poetry contests in his group and judges the entries in the contests. Apart from Literature Lovers’ Association he is judge in other literary groups as well. He is admin in several literary groups in facebook.
He has been conferred upon with several awards for his literary works:

·        The magazine Different Truths conferred on him the award of “Winner of the Popular Category” on May, 2017.

·        He was invited and felicitated in 10th Guntur International Poetry Fest, 2017 with a stole and trophy.

·        He was bestowed upon with double cross gold medal by the president of World Union of Poets, Italy for his poem “Discrimination”.

·        His poem “Peaceful Earth” was awarded with the International Golden Pen Award as one of the best poems of 2017 by Literary Group “Petals of Amaltas, India”.

·        He was invited and felicitated in National Poetry Fest, 2018 organised by Rock Pebbles in Puri, Odisha.

·        He was invited and felicitated in National Poetry Fest, 2018 organized by Sahitya Srijan Manch, Sitapur, UP, India with a stole and trophy.

Questionnaire:

Q-1] When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

ANS: I have been writing poems since a very young age. When I was only 12, I composed a poem in Hindi. With the inspiration and motivation of elders I composed more poems. 

Q-2] When did you write your first book and how old were you?

ANS: My first book “Spiritual Realization” containing my 41 spiritual poems composed in the period of ten years. In 2006,when I studied Gitanjali of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and some parts of Savitri of Shri Aurobindo I began to write my own spiritual experiences. I was only 29 years old when I started writing my spiritual poems in English. Before this I composed a lot of Hindi poems replete with spirituality.

Q-3] What was the most surprising thing you learned in creating your books?

ANS: Nothing surprising; when I am in serene mood, I compose my poems. After completing my 41 spiritual poems I decided to get them published.  

Q-4] How many books you have written? Which is your favourite?

ANS: I have composed hundreds of poems. My only book “Spiritual Realization” has been published by Authorspress, New Delhi.

Q-5] Do you have any suggestions to help any budding writer become a better writer? If so, what are they?

ANS: Budding writers should study of predecessors more and more. We should have sufficient literary and social knowledge from the Age of Chaucer to Present Age. Ancient writers give us inspiration to write better; they enrich our vocabulary and writing skill. The budding writers should also have knowledge of grammar. It is necessary to study grammar to update them with it.

Q-6] Do you hear from your readers much? What kind of things do they say?

ANS: Yes, I hear from my readers more than I write. I am careful for their feedback. Their comments always make me more enthusiastic to write more and more. Their positive reactions are oars in my literary journey. I love my readers very much and want their love and affection incessantly.
