Questionnaire:

1) When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer ?
Ans: I had a profound interest in reading but I was never inclined towards writing ever before in my life. I used to write short-stories and all but an entire book was never the option. I always had the habit building up stories, plots in my mind and executing in my mind but one of the stories which was brewing in my mind some 3 years ago was something, which I felt was different. I simply took out my pen and paper and started writing it. So, yeah, this was the way I became a writer.

2) How long does it take you to write a book ?
Ans: Well, my writing speed is kind of slow. It took me 1 year from writing my first words to ending my first draft.

3) What is your work schedule when you are writing ?
Ans: I don’t follow a specific work schedule for writing. Many people follow the conventions of writing some definite number of pages per day but I usually don’t follow that. I generally write when I feel like writing and when I get the time because currently, I am working in shifts which sometimes make it difficult for me.

4) What would you say is your interesting writing quirk ?
Ans: In my debut novel ‘The Last Laugh’, the most challenging part was to write dialogues for the many different characters in the story and to make each of the dialogue stand out from the other so that it doesn’t feel that only person is writing all of them. I also do a little voice acting and when I had to write a scene concerning say, 4 people. I would assign a different voice for each, then I would kind of re-enact the scene and write the dialogues accordingly. It was my attempt of making the scene as realistic as possible, like a movie. I don’t know if anyone else does the same but I applied this methodology and it worked wonders for me. The dialogues which I wrote after I employed this were visibly different than before.

5) Where do you get your information or ideas for your books ?
Ans: Well…this list is very long – First I would say, my personal experiences. The small nuances, instances, incidents which were memorable or which are a part of my life made their way into my story and I personally believe that these are the things which really gives the finishing touches to the plot. Apart from that, I would say, books, movies, internet, articles and all.

6) What do you like to do when you're not writing ?
Ans: Currently I am working with Reliance Industries Limited and in shift duties so sometimes it difficult to do what I like but in my free time I like reading, listening to music, travelling and watching Cricket, Football and Wrestling and I am obsessed with comic-book mythos. With a new-found interest in voice acting, I try to mimic and impersonate my beloved characters when I am recording on my mic.

7) Tell us something about your novel/ book ?
Ans: Well, to say in short my book is a perfect example of a Cat & Mouse Thriller. The idea of the story was kinda simple for me- Many characters, 1 briefcase containing huge amounts of money and the race to take away the money. This I could say is the basic premise of the entire story. It's like a violent hide and seek with a lot of twists and turns. The story was also quite different before and involving even more characters and there was going to be a montage of close knit sequences but it had many loopholes so, I eventually settled for a more streamlined version omitting any possible loopholes and eliminating all the unnecessary characters. So, if you read the book, you will almost feel as if your are watching scenes from a movie.

8) What one of the most surprising thing you learned in creating your books ?
Ans: To me, more than writing the book was the process in which the story assembles in my mind. It's all about this experience where you don't have to make any special effort but it's your own brain, programming by itself to create something new, beautiful. It has an adrenaline rush to it, you simply start enjoying it. It's the thing which creates sleepless nights and anxiety in your brain. It's a beautiful experience.
